Ekaterinburg About city

Ekaterinburg is the fourth city in Russia by population and the largest administrative, cultural, scientific and educational centre of the Ural region. During the Great Patriotic War (WWII), Sverdlovsk (the name of Yekaterinburg until 1991) was the centre of the USSR radio broadcasting, hosting the most powerful transmitter in the country.
